Tracking & Visibility

Shipment status, from a team that’s watching it

Peregrine Shipping’s team in Auburn, Maine provides shipment tracking and visibility through proactive updates, checking with carriers directly rather than routing you to a self-service portal.

Overview

Visibility that comes from a person, not just a screen

Shipment tracking and visibility means knowing where your freight is and what’s likely to happen next, without having to chase that information down yourself. We handle this today through our team: checking status directly with the relevant carrier at key points in the move and proactively flagging anything, a delay, a hold, an exception, that could affect your shipment.

We don’t currently offer a live, self-service tracking portal or app. What we do provide is a direct line to a team who can check with the carrier and get back to you with a real answer, which for many shippers, especially on international or multi-leg moves, is more useful than a status code with no context behind it.

For shippers managing multiple shipments at once, we can also compile visibility reporting across a group of shipments rather than one at a time, so you get a single view without needing to log into several different carrier systems.

Proactive milestone updates

Our team reaches out at key points in the shipment’s journey rather than waiting for you to ask. That way you learn about a delay from us, not from a missed delivery.

Direct carrier follow-up

When you need a status check, we contact the carrier directly and come back with a real answer. That beats a generic status code that doesn’t explain what’s actually happening.

One point of contact

You have a single team to reach for status, regardless of how many carriers are involved in the move. You’re not tracking down a different contact for every leg of a multi-modal shipment.

Compiled visibility reporting

For multi-shipment programs, we can compile status across shipments into a single report. That saves you from logging into several different carrier systems to piece together one picture.

How we keep you informed

How it works

Step 1

Shipment booked

Key milestones for the shipment are identified based on its mode and route.

Step 2

Milestone monitoring

Our team checks in with the carrier at each major checkpoint in the shipment’s journey.

Step 3

Proactive updates

You’re notified at major milestones or if something changes, rather than only when you ask.

Step 4

Status requests anytime

You can reach out at any point and our team will check with the carrier and respond.

Step 5

Delivery confirmation

We confirm final delivery and share proof of delivery where it’s available.

Reference

Typical shipment milestones

MilestoneWhat it confirms
Booking confirmedSpace or capacity has been secured with the carrier
Departed originThe shipment has left the origin port, airport, or facility
In-transit / customsThe shipment is moving, or is being processed through customs clearance
Arrived destinationThe shipment has reached the destination port, airport, or facility
DeliveredThe shipment has reached its final destination and delivery is confirmed

These are standard milestone categories used across the freight industry to describe a shipment’s progress. At Peregrine Shipping, these milestones are confirmed and relayed by our team rather than pulled from an automated live-tracking system.

FAQs

Tracking and visibility questions

Not at this time. Tracking requests are handled directly by our team, who check with the carrier and respond with the current status rather than pointing you to a login you’d need to check yourself.

Our team monitors key milestones and reaches out proactively if something changes that could affect your shipment, rather than waiting for you to notice and ask. That includes context on what caused the change where the carrier can tell us.

We check directly with the carrier when you reach out, so response time depends on how quickly the carrier can confirm status. We’ll come back to you with what we’ve learned, even if the answer is that the carrier hasn’t responded yet.

Yes. For shippers running several shipments at a time, we can compile status into a single report rather than tracking each one individually, which is usually more useful than a shipment-by-shipment lookup.
